Step into the world of Cyanotype, a 19th century photographic process that uses sunlight to create stunning blue and white prints — no darkroom, no camera, just chemistry and creativity.
We'll start with a quick overview of the history behind cyanotype and how the process works, then dive right into the fun part. You'll arrange compositions using plants, objects, film negatives, or anything with an interesting shape, lay them onto light-sensitive paper, and let the sun do the rest. You'll print several pieces on paper throughout the class, experimenting with different arrangements and seeing what surprises the process brings.
You’ll also receive a pre-treated piece of fabric to print on — take it home and turn it into a patch, a pocket, a wall hanging, or whatever inspires you.
We'll have plenty of materials on hand, but if you have something special you'd like to bring — a feather, a pressed flower, a meaningful object — you're more than welcome to bring it along.
No experience needed, all materials provided. Come ready to play with light and leave with a little collection of one-of-a-kind prints.
Join us on Sunday, July 26th from 1-3PM at THE EXCHANGE 617 Marin Street in Old Town Vallejo.
As always space is limited and we tend to sell out so sign up early before all seats are gone. Sign up by July 12th and snag the $60 early-bird rate - future you will thank present you.
Please understand that buying a ticket to an event or workshop is no different than buying a concert, theater, or movie ticket and we are unable to offer refunds. You are of course always welcome to gift your seat to a friend if you cannot make it!
