Embroidery 101
Looking to learn how to embroider or brush up on the basics? Join us for this embroidery workshop with the talented Amanda Farrell of Embroidered Panda who will help you build a solid foundation while also teaching you some surprising stunners for your next project. With plenty of hands-on guidance and time to practice, you'll gain the skills you need to start your own embroidery projects, embellish existing pieces, or even add unique touches to your clothing.
You'll learn the essential techniques that every embroiderer needs, including how to hoop your fabric properly, how to begin and end your stitching cleanly, secrets to making the smoothest stitches, and how to finish your hoop for hanging and display.
Throughout the workshop, you'll master a variety of stitches including backstitch and whipped backstitch, seed stitch, french knots, brick stitch, satin stitch, split stitch, woven rose, couching, jacobean couching and trellis, blanket stitch, fly stitch, and weave stitch. If time allows, you can expect a few extra special secret stitches that will stun and delight!
Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills, this workshop offers a relaxed, supportive environment to explore the beautiful art of embroidery.
ARTIST BIO:
Bay Area Filipino-American artist Amanda Farrell is a modern hand embroidery artist whose simple, clean lines create expressive works of art. Her work has been featured in blogs like Kollective Hustle and Martha Stewart Weddings, and she has participated in numerous maker fairs around the country. Her most recent exhibition at 3 Bottled Fish in Oakland featured her most personal works, and included memorial pieces that celebrate her family and Filipino heritage. She sources materials as ethically as possible, using vintage items as well as fabric from upcyclers and recyclers keeping fiber and fabric out of landfills.
Join us on Saturday, January 17th from 12 - 2PM at THE EXCHANGE 617 Marin Street in Old Town Vallejo.
As always space is limited and we tend to sell out so sign up early before all seats are gone.
Please understand that buying a ticket to an event or workshop is no different than buying a concert, theater, or movie ticket and we are unable to offer refunds. You are of course always welcome to gift your seat to a friend if you cannot make it!
