Tiny Tapestries: Beginner Weaving Workshop
Ready to discover why humans have been obsessed with weaving for thousands of years? Join us for an afternoon of meditative making where you’ll learn the fundamentals of tapestry weaving and create your own miniature masterpiece.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll master the basic techniques that turn simple threads into stunning textile art. Working with a wide selection of yarns, you’ll learn to build texture and create visual depth on a perfectly sized 5” x 3” wooden block that becomes both your learning tool and take-home treasure.
What You’ll Learn:
• Setting up a simple frame loom (spoiler: easier than you think)
• Basic tapestry weave and how to build consistent rows
• Creating texture with looped pile technique for that cozy, dimensional look
• Professional finishing techniques
What You’ll Make:
Your own unique mini tapestry featuring both smooth woven sections and plush textured areas – think sunset colors meeting tactile comfort. The wooden block becomes a perfect display piece for hanging on the wall, propping on a shelf, or gifting to someone who deserves handmade beauty.
Who This Is For:
Complete beginners welcome! Whether you’ve never touched a loom or you’ve been curious about weaving but didn’t know where to start, this workshop meets you exactly where you are. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to let the rhythm of weaving work its magic.
What’s Included:
All materials, tools, and expert guidance. Beautiful gradient yarns, wooden frame, and finishing supplies. Plus coffee that doesn’t suck and the company of fellow makers. Leave with your finished piece, new skills, and probably some ideas for your next weaving project.
The Experience:
Three hours of focused, meditative making in our cozy clubhouse. There’s something deeply satisfying about building fabric thread by thread, watching colors blend and textures emerge – it’s like meditation you can hang on your wall.
No experience necessary, just bring your hands and an open mind. The ancient craft of weaving is waiting to welcome you.
Join us on Sunday, September 21st from 1 - 4 PM at THE EXCHANGE 617 Marin Street in Old Town Vallejo.
As always space is limited and we tend to sell out so sign up early before all seats are gone.
Please understand that buying a ticket to an event or workshop is no different than buying a concert, theater, or movie ticket and we are unable to offer refunds. You are of course always welcome to gift your seat to a friend if you cannot make it!
