Step into our spooky-season print shop and learn the craft of carved block printing. This is our Block Printing Basics class wearing its best cloak. You'll learn how to transfer a design onto your block, carve it by hand, and pull prints onto a range of papers, from classic printmaking paper to delicate rice paper. Seeing how each one takes the ink is half the fun.
Bats, ravens, skulls, crescent moons, creepy-cute pumpkins, whatever haunts your imagination. We'll have spooky inspiration on hand if you need a nudge. If you’d like to bring an image- a high contrast, simple image works best. We are working with a 4 × 6” block so make sure your image fits within those dimensions.
You'll leave with your own hand-carved block to keep printing all season, a stack of prints, and two finished cards with envelopes, ready to mail to your favorite ghouls.
No experience needed, just a taste for the macabre and a willingness to get a little inky. All materials provided.
